This brain theory hypothetically describes the gradual emergence of the brain in the course of evolution and explains the operating principles of signal processing in the various substructures of the brain on the assumption that these evolved gradually, so that the principles of signal processing also changed gradually; as a result of this process, the human brain emerged as a provisional end result, the functioning of which can be largely traced back to the vertebrate brain.
